Chaos Root Abyss
Chaos Crimson Queen, Chaos Pierre, Chaos Von Bon, and Chaos Vellum provide fragments used to obtain Lv. 150 Root Abyss equipment.
Lotus and Damien
Often called Lomien, these bosses provide exchange items used to obtain Lv. 160 AbsoLab equipment.
Practice Mode
Eligible weekly bosses allow unlimited practice attempts after their prerequisites are completed; practice clears grant no EXP or rewards.
Intense Power Crystals
Sell boss crystals to the Collector for mesos; their value depends on the defeated boss and the number of party members.
MapleStory Gear Progression

Root Abyss
The Lv. 150 Root Abyss set is obtained using fragments earned from Chaos Root Abyss bosses.
AbsoLab

Arcane Umbra
Arcane Umbra is a Lv. 200 equipment set for later gear progression.
Star Force and Potential
Star Force spends mesos to enhance equipment stats; Potential has Rare, Epic, Unique, and Legendary ranks.
World Rules
Heroic worlds do not offer scrolling enhancements or Bonus Potential; Interactive worlds support these additional upgrade systems.

Legion Ranks
Rank advancement requires cumulative character levels and Legion Coins; higher ranks increase the number of assignable members.

Artifact Crystals
Each Artifact Crystal provides three selectable stats, initially active for 30 days; Artifact Points can extend their duration.
Artifact Missions
Missions award Artifact EXP and Artifact Points; increasing Artifact level grants Artifact AP used to upgrade crystals.
MapleStory 6th Job Guide

Advancement Requirements
Reach Lv. 260, complete fifth job advancement, and finish '[Convergence] True Form' and '5th Job: Record of Power'.
HEXA Matrix
After sixth job advancement, access the HEXA Matrix through the VI tab in the Skills window.
Mastery Nodes
Mastery Nodes enhance existing first-to-fourth-job skills into HEXA skills and can be upgraded to Rank 30.
Sol Erda Resources
Sol Erda and Sol Erda Fragments are resources used to activate and enhance HEXA nodes.
HEXA Stats
A Stat Node contains one Main Stat and two Additional Stats and can be enhanced to Rank 20.

Is MapleStory free to play?
Global MapleStory is free to download and play. Optional purchases are available, and the items and progression rules can differ between world types.
Can I play MapleStory on a Mac?
Yes. As of October 7, 2026, Global MapleStory offers a macOS beta client. Nexon's recommended Mac specifications include Apple silicon M1 or newer, macOS Sequoia 15.0 or later, and 16 GB of RAM. Check the official beta notices for current compatibility issues.
Can I keep my MapleStory progress when switching between Steam and Nexon Launcher?
Yes, if Steam is linked to the Nexon account that holds your characters. Linking lets you use that account's existing characters, items, and progress. Characters and purchases cannot be merged into another Nexon account.
What is the difference between Heroic and Interactive worlds in MapleStory?
In Global MapleStory, Heroic worlds emphasize earning your own equipment and do not offer player trading or an Auction House. Interactive worlds support player trading and the Auction House. Equipment enhancement options and some event rewards also differ.
How do I find quests and training areas in MapleStory?
Use the in-game Maple Guide to find recommended quests and hunting fields for your level and travel to available destinations. Some locations require you to complete related quests before you can enter.
When can I unlock 6th Job in MapleStory?
In modern Global MapleStory, 6th Job advancement becomes available from level 260 after completing 5th Job advancement and the required prerequisite quests. Finish the 6th Job advancement quests to access the HEXA Matrix.
Can my MapleStory character advance into any job?
Job advancement follows your chosen class line. A Magician cannot advance into a Warrior, for example. Check your class's available advancement options before choosing your character.
Is MapleStory Classic World the same experience as modern MapleStory?
Classic World is a separate classic experience with its own character names and progression rules. Founder's Access began on October 6, 2026 at 11:00 AM PDT for eligible package owners. Grand Launch is scheduled for October 21, 2026 at 11:00 AM PDT. Modern MapleStory guides require separate checks before being applied to Classic World.
